ATLANTA -- LSU claimed its third Southeastern Conference title in seven seasons and first since 2003 with a 21-14 victory against Tennessee tonight in the conference championship game.
The Tigers' hopes for a national championship took a big blow in a 50-48, triple-overtime loss to unranked Arkansas in Tiger Stadium. LSU couldn't find an answer for Heisman Trophy candidate Darren McFadden as its 19-game home winning streak ended.
Trindon Holliday returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, LSU forced two turnovers during goal-line stands and the top-ranked Tigers slipped past Mississippi 41-24 on Saturday. The victory put LSU one game away from its third SEC West title in five seasons and ensured a sixth consecutive victory against one of its hated rivals.

The No. 2-ranked Tigers went out and took care of the most urgent piece of business that was within their control, handling Louisiana Tech for a 58-10 LSU nonconference victory. The victory featured the most points LSU has scored in a game in three seasons under coach Les Miles.
The Tigers rallied from a 34-27 deficit in the final seven minutes to claim a 41-34 victory against Alabama and former LSU head coach Nick Saban. The victory put LSU in the driver's seat for the SEC West title.
LSU literally pulled off a last-second comeback to beat Auburn, 30-24, in Tiger Stadium and keep alive hopes for conference and national championships. LSU rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Auburn in Baton Rouge for the fourth consecutive time and to also avoid a second loss in two games.
LSU left the state of Kentucky with a Big Blue feeling after the top-ranked Tigers suffered a 43-37, triple-overtime loss against the 17th-ranked Wildcats in Lexington.
The Tigers only led Florida for 1 minute and 9 seconds, but that was enough time for LSU to steal a 28-24 victory against the defending national champ. The Tigers improved to 6-0 and moved up to No. 1 in the coaches' and Harris Interactive rankings one week after taking the top spot in the media rankings.
LSU only needed a half of football to put away Tulane, 34-9, in the Superdome. However, that half was the second one because the Tigers struggled through the first 30 minutes. LSU improved to 5-0 in beating Tulane for the 16th consecutive time. The Tigers also moved up to No. 1 in The Associated Press for the first time since 1959.
The Tigers did not play their best against the Gamecocks, but second-ranked LSU was still good enough to take out 12th-ranked South Carolina, 28-16, in Tiger Stadium.

The players changed, but the results stayed the same for the Tigers in a 44-0 rout of the overmatched Blue Raiders.

The showdown between top-10 teams was a mismatch almost from the start as thesecond-ranked Tigers demolished the ninth-ranked Hokies, 48-7, in Tiger Stadium. LSU rolled up 599 yards of offense while shutting down the VT offense.

The Tigers toyed with the Bulldogs in the first half before breaking the game open in the second half in a 45-0 victory. LSU beat State for the eighth consecutive time.
