MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

LAS VEGAS — Canadian welterweight Jonathan (The Road Warrior) Goulet will meet Mike (Quick) Swick on Dec. 10 in the UFC's "Fight for the Troops" card in Fayetteville, N.C.

The fastest growing sport in the world is showing no signs of slowing down. The popularity of Mixed Martial Arts can be seen in the number of TV outlets that are picking up its bouts as well as in the new reality shows popping up all over cable. All in all, October could possibly be the most interesting month of MMA action to date. There will be seven different local cable channels with as many as twelve different MMA shows to view during October.

Well first and foremost what we have learned is that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has competition. I wouldn’t sell just yet, but you might want to buy in on Affliction, being they just assembled the best heavyweight division ever in Mixed Martial Arts.

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Ultimate Fight Night 15 started off with the first seven fights ending without a decision and none going past the second round. The final fights of the night ended with all three going to a decision with little to no stop in action.

On Wednesday night, local Baton Rouge native Kyle Bradley will be in the second biggest fight of his life on the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Fight Night. Bradley will take on highly touted lightweight Joe Lauzon of Bridgewater, Mass.
